Obama - Bipartisan?

No. Obama is the most liberal senator. While in the Illinois state senate, he voted against the Born Alive Infants Protection Act that prohibited anyone from killing an infant that had survived an abortion. His comments speak for themselves:

"How could someone possibly justify such a vote? In March 2001, Obama was the sole speaker in opposition to the bill on the floor of the Illinois Senate. He said: "We're saying they are persons entitled to the kinds of protections provided to a child, a 9-month child delivered to term. I mean, it would essentially bar abortions, because the equal-protection clause does not allow somebody to kill a child." So according to Obama, "they," babies who survive abortions or any other preterm newborns, should be permitted to be killed because giving legal protection to preterm newborns would have the effect of banning all abortions."

Even if you leave ethics out of it (which is hard to do), my friend makes valid points that Obama hasn't had strong leadership experience. That seems a good strategy for the war on terrorism. Not to mention his charisma reminds me of Joel Osteen.

Non-viable babies born alive after abortion procedures already have the exact same protections that non-viable babies born by any other means have had. It is illegal to kill them, and it has always been illegal to kill them. The bill was a conservative smokescreen to attempt to reduce abortion rights (by causing "person" to be defined before viability) and makes Democrats look bad.

Claiming that Obama is not bipartisan ignores his succesful bipartisan efforts in the Illinois senate that contributed to welfare reform, campaign finance reform, death penalty reform, and an ending of racial profiling. It also ignores his successful bills in the U.S. Senate for campaign finance reform (Coburn-Obama) and nonproliferation of weapons used by terrorists (Lugar-Obama).
